Ghostpell's Olga Korbut (2021)

Image
Have you heard of Ghostpell yet?  If you claim to love Spanish Rap, do yourself a favor and listen to him now!  I personally feel he surpassed Kase.O as the best lyricist alive in Spanish.  He is phenomenal.  Not just that but his flow is out of this world!  So smooth and something that has never been heard before in our language.  I would compare him to a modern day Spanish version of Slick Rick, AZ or Nas but with Nas level lyricism. For those in the know, many felt Ghostpell lost his battle to Ergo Pro and he has lost some of that hype since then.  I respect those that feel that and understand their opinion.  Although I feel Ghostpell edged it out but it was close.  They are both very impressive lyricists. The last we heard from Ghostpell was in 2024 when he appeared on what some are calling a modern day classic in Mir Nicolas's "S.P.I" which was quite good and is definitely worth a listen.  Stay away from the deluxe edition.  It...

Thoughts on the Jurassic Park series, mostly Jurassic World.

Image
Man, it would be cool if Dinosaurs were real, huh?  I keep hoping they finally find Nessie or Mokele Mbembe.  I mean, we have the Komodo Dragon and though they are almost as deadly as Raptors, (Komodo Dragons eat several humans a year)... it's not the same.  You might as well call a lizard a dinosaur. I read in a book by Michio Kaku that scientists are actually trying to replicate prehistoric creatures via DNA extract.  Apparently, quantum computing and 3-D printing will be part of the process if we ever achieve it.  We probably will in like 20-30 years.  But "Jurassic Park" is a fascinating concept.  Dinosaurs brought in from the prehistoric age to the modern one.  I do think Aristocrats would pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to visit a real life park with such an attraction. The first Jurassic Park movie is historic and it is as good now as it was then.  It is a masterpiece and marvel of special effects few thought possible back in 1993...

Apocalipsis Boricua (1999) The Wonderful World of DJ Raymond Review El primer album de Reggaeton Lo-Fi en la historia.

Image
The Wonderful World of DJ Raymond.   Apocalipsis Boricua Review.

Orishas - A Lo Cubano (2000)

Image
Orishas' debut album is a landmark in the history of Cuban Hip Hop.  There is not much background about them except that they met in Art/Music school within Cuba, became friends and collaborators, and one of the guys speaks French.  Whatever they had was so special that Sony signed them out the gate.  I'm pretty sure they had an underground buzz and scene within Cuba but unlike others for example:  Tiro De Gracia, El Sindicato Argentino & Tres Coronas, I have never come across with any underground works from Orishas. In the year 2026 it may not sound as special but in the year 2000, what Orishas did in combining Cuban Son with Hip Hop was revolutionary.  D'Mingo had done it before in the mid 90's mixing soneo Boricua with Rap, but what Orishas did was much more sophisticated.  Their background in music & percussion allowed them to blend live music with Rap samples seamlessly. I don't know the exact sales of "A Lo Cubano" but I believe it is their m...

Tempo Won Vs Al2 El Aldeano With One Line? Review of Round One.

Image
I know what I wrote for those paying attention. But this is Rap.   Since one of these artists engages in Reggaeton too and the other one collaborates with Reggaeton/Reparto artists, I believe the mods will allow this.   I will post as a backup on my Funky Bae Blog just in case.   Check that out if you’re in need of new Urbano or general music material.   LW I will be posting there, but since only Reggaeton is allowed here, unless it’s something I was already working on, I will rarely post here for the next 40 days. Anywho… Tempo won... the 1 st round.   These two guys are thoroughbred EMCEES and it’s highly unlikely that it will end here.   I felt that Al2 was winning but then Tempo went in with that line “Todo El Mundo Sabe Que Yo Vendia Droga/Yo La VendÍ, Tu La Usas Que El Público Escoja”.   I feel Al2 went too modern with his diss track focusing on visuals, themes and sonic shifts to distract from the lyrics which were good but pretty gene...

1993 Royal Rumble Match

Image
I won't spoil it in case anyone hasn't watched.  Growing up this was one of my favorite events.  My father got me this on VHS from the discount bin when I was 6.  They say this is one of the worst Royal Rumbles of all time.  And it prefaces Wrestlemania 9, generally regarded as the worst Wrestlemania ever. As an adult I can attest to Wrestlemania 9 not aging well, though I enjoyed it at the time.  Bret Hart and Hogan were my favorite wrestlers but I didn't mind the Hulkster getting a comeback.  I would have done a clash at Summerslam between Hogan and Bret Hart.  That is what I wanted as a 6 year old, preferably with Hart going over.  Had they gone that direction, that ppv would have aged better. Unlike Wrestlemania 9, I think Royal Rumble 1993 ages fairly well.  The main event is a very entertaining Royal Rumble.  It lacks a little star power, but there are some big names like Mr. Perfect, Macho Man Randy Savage, Yokozuna, The Un...

Pancho Indio Crew - Tha Bulbas (2002)

Image
Pancho Indio Crew presenta Tha Bulbas (2002) Some may be familiar with Pancho Indio Crew thanks to his short lived duo with David Deambulante who in turn had his most notable runs with Nicky Jam in the mid 2000's and early 2010's.  Even less will know that before his beginnings as a solo act, Indio was a member of the duo "Los Panchos" who took their name from the legendary trio act of the 1950's. "Los Panchos" were Indio with his partner Gizmo J and appeared on some notable productions of the era like DJ Raymond 3, Rappers The Beginning, DJ Goldy's "MP y MH Underground" and Hipnosis.  Their biggest hit was "Girlas Bailen" produced by DJ Chiclin & Rafy Mercenario in 1999.  Then, unexpectedly, in 2001 Pancho made his solo debut on DJ Joe's "Fatal Fantassy" series of albums.  He also appeared on other notable productions like DJ Eric All Star 2, Guatauba xXx, The Noise The Beginning and Babilonia El Imperio Comie...
