1993 Royal Rumble Match

I won't spoil it in case anyone hasn't watched.  Growing up this was one of my favorite events.  My father got me this on VHS from the discount bin when I was 6.  They say this is one of the worst Royal Rumbles of all time.  And it prefaces Wrestlemania 9, generally regarded as the worst Wrestlemania ever.

As an adult I can attest to Wrestlemania 9 not aging well, though I enjoyed it at the time.  Bret Hart and Hogan were my favorite wrestlers but I didn't mind the Hulkster getting a comeback.  I would have done a clash at Summerslam between Hogan and Bret Hart.  That is what I wanted as a 6 year old, preferably with Hart going over.  Had they gone that direction, that ppv would have aged better.

Unlike Wrestlemania 9, I think Royal Rumble 1993 ages fairly well.  The main event is a very entertaining Royal Rumble.  It lacks a little star power, but there are some big names like Mr. Perfect, Macho Man Randy Savage, Yokozuna, The Undertaker, Jerry The King Lawler, Tito Santana, Carlos Colon, Genichiro Tenryu & Rick Martel among others...

The world title match between Bret Hart & Razor Ramon is really well put together.  Marty Janetty & Shawn Michaels have a fantastic match.  I think Big Boss Man and Bam Bam Bigelow had a solid big man clash.  And the opener between the Steiner Brothers vs the Beverly Brothers was pretty good.  It is far from the worst Royal Rumble in my opinion.

Match Rating:  8/10
