Pancho Indio Crew - Tha Bulbas (2002)
Pancho Indio Crew presenta Tha Bulbas (2002)
Some may be familiar with Pancho Indio Crew thanks to his short lived duo with David Deambulante who in turn had his most notable runs with Nicky Jam in the mid 2000's and early 2010's. Even less will know that before his beginnings as a solo act, Indio was a member of the duo "Los Panchos" who took their name from the legendary trio act of the 1950's.
"Los Panchos" were Indio with his partner Gizmo J and appeared on some notable productions of the era like DJ Raymond 3, Rappers The Beginning, DJ Goldy's "MP y MH Underground" and Hipnosis. Their biggest hit was "Girlas Bailen" produced by DJ Chiclin & Rafy Mercenario in 1999. Then, unexpectedly, in 2001 Pancho made his solo debut on DJ Joe's "Fatal Fantassy" series of albums. He also appeared on other notable productions like DJ Eric All Star 2, Guatauba xXx, The Noise The Beginning and Babilonia El Imperio Comienza.
Pancho's various artists album pretty much came as a surprise. No one would have predicted it. The reason being that Pancho was still a fairly obscure artist despite having achieved some moderate success. But the plan and formula work. Obviously boosted by notable guest appearances such as Plan B, Yaga & Mackie, Falo, Nicky Jam, Ranking Stone, Dalmata, Panty Man, Baby Ranks & Divino among others... Tha Bulbas sold an impressive 20 thousand units independently.
'Tha Bulbas' follows in the vein of Fatal Fantassy and Reggaeton Sex as it is an album all about sex. Bulbas was derived from the female vulva and is an odd tribute of sorts from Mr. Indio Crew. It is one of the most acclaimed Perreo albums of the era by the hardcore underground Reggaeton audience. The beats were mostly done by DJ Giann Live (Music) with additional production by DJ Joe, DJ Urba, Rafy Mercenario, DJ Flavor & DJ Raymond.
The album is pretty fantastic if you are a lover of Perreo Music. It sounds very similar to the stripped down Perreo being made in modern day Mexico. The Plan B song became internationally known thanks to its inclusion on several mixtapes. Most of the songs are pretty good here. Pancho appears on most songs, but it does not hamper the quality as he is a very able artist. If you liked the Fatal Fantassy Reggaeton style of the era, you will most likely enjoy 'Tha Bulbas'.
